Character origin and background
Smoker is a Marine officer whose pursuit of Luffy began in Loguetown. His smoke-based Devil Fruit powers and uncompromising manner established him as an early obstacle to the Straw Hats’ journey.
His sense of justice can place him at odds with the decisions of his own organisation. That tension makes him more than a straightforward enemy and gives a Marine collection a different perspective from the pirate crews.
